The death of racing
With the death of MotoGP (Pro motorcycle racing) driver Marco Simoncelli earlier today, and Indycar driver Dan Wheldon last weeks that makes two auto racing deaths in two weeks. I now have a fear that we may be on the edge of seeing racing go away as it was meant to be, dangerous. The whole idea of racing is that is fast and dangerous but these drivers do it (and that we cheer on) do it anyway; whether because of the love of speed, or the need of experiencing life on the blade of the sword, or whatever. No matter the reason, these driver who do it and that we support know the risks that come with their profession. However with these two deaths the yells and screams for more safety will be coming loud and fast. To those calls I have one response, look at what extreme safety has done to NASCAR the younger drivers, who have grown up with all the high-tech safety equipment are far and away more aggressive and dangerous then the older ones. Why, because even in the most violent crashes these days in NASCAR the worst you are likely to get it seems is a headache; While the older drivers who have had to deal with getting hurt on a more serious level drive with more respect for the other drivers while still doing quite well. Now don't get me wrong I don't believe that NASCAR should go back to the day when all you had was a seat belt and helmet(if that) or that MotoGP and Indy-car shouldn't look into better safety, Indy-car & F1 cars are designed to fall apart around the driver that's why they look so spectacular, and there's not much more you can do to make motorcycle racing safer. But we need to respect the drivers who do this and realize that they know the dangers & risks; accept that and then real that no matter what when you have people going fast horrible things can and are going to happen.
Albert Pujols=Monster
In case you missed it the third game of the World Series was played tonight down in Texas and Albert Pujols of the Cardinals used it as his personal platform to prove what a monster he is when he is batting. His person box score: 6AB's 5 Hits (3Hr's) 4 Runs Scored, 6 RBI's, 0 walks, o strikeouts, in rout to helping his team win 16-7 & take a 2 games to 1 advantage in the Series. Total distance of his HR's about 1300 ft (431[1sthr], 424[2nd], and 420[3rd] ft respectively) He will when his career is over go down as one of the biggest offensive threats to have ever played; and oh yeah he was drafted in the 13 round of the 1999 draft, I want to know how the scouts missed so badly.
cleaning house
as you might have noticed i did some house cleaning today and removed my older posts as they were no longer relevant. So from this point on I have an empty space that i will use hopefully on a semi-regular basis to write down my thought and opinions.
4 years later
Wow has it been 4 plus years from the time I last posed here. Damn a lot has changed: we have a new president; Barack Obama(the first African-American one at that, something I thought I might live to but not this soon), The war in Iraq is coming to an end (finally, Mission Accomplished might mean something again), Bin Ladin is dead, America's standing in the world is on the rise, while our own prospects for the future seem to dangle in the wind, I am living in my own place, and I just celebrated my 5 year anniversary of working at Value Village. While it's a job it is by no means the dream I have for myself. As I tell people, It was going to be a 6-9 month job while I look for something long-term but about that point I saw the economic cliff approaching rather quickly and decided to sick around; and that 6-9 month job, has now entered it's sixth year with no end in sight. But things aren't all bad, have met many good people, had and kinda lost a girlfriend (we're still vary close, in other words it's complicated) And I'm a Sounders FC season ticket holder.
Now because this is the first post in a while I will re-frame from boring you to death with what going on and my opinions of it. but those will be coming.
